It was an outstanding weekend for us.
We pulled off the first “perfect weekend” of the season (it only took five weeks to make it happen) and our beloved Seminoles pulled together an impressive come-from-behind win to top the Cardinals on the road.
We can’t dwell on the awesomeness that was “Week 5” for too long as a slate of tough games are on deck for Week 6.
Before we jump into our self-proclaimed “Game of the Week” let’s discuss the only match-up between ranked opponents.
The 6th-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish travel to Blacksburg, VA for a prime time match-up against the 24th-ranked Virginia Tech Hokies. The line on this game is surprisingly low with the Irish only being favored by 6.5pts at the writing of this article.
Virginia Tech head coach Justin Fuente knows this team will give them lots of challenges on many fronts. But being under the friendly lights of Lane Stadium may be just the advantage the Hokies need to pull off the upset.
“We’re happy to be back at home, had a good week of preparation thus far. We’re going to need to continue that to have a chance against these guys.”
We honestly think this one will take the full 60 minutes to decide before the visiting Irish escape with a win.
Now let’s jump into our “Game of the Week” that sees Florida State travel south to face longtime rival #17 Miami.
There’s no denying the bad blood between these two programs.
Miami is looking to finally make a name for itself in the ACC, where they have had zero relevance since they jumped shipped from the Big East.
On the flip side FSU is trying to get back in the national relevance and bounce back from a pair of disappointing losses early in the year.
Right now the Vegas line has the Hurricanes favored by 13.5pts so a win here would go a long way in putting FSU back on the national landscape.
Couple that with the history between these two teams and you have the making for another “ESPN Classic”.
“You’ve got two storied programs that have very talented young men on their team and they dislike each other and it will be one exciting, physical, talented football game being played on Saturday.” — FSU head coach Willie Taggart
We’re looking for another slow start for FSU with another rally to tie the game in the 4th quarter before, ironically, winning the game with a late field goal.
While the slate of games this weekend is much lighter it is no less entertaining with a multitude of great story lines. Here’s our picks for this weekend’s match-ups.
Friday, October 5th
Saturday, October 6th
Last Week’s Picks: 9-0
