Rush Announce Organization’s New President

RAPID CITY, SD — On Friday the Rapid City Rush held a press conference to announce that their search for a new president for the organization was over.

Jeff Dickerson from Spire Sports + Entertainment, introduced by Mark Binetti, took the podium with a level of excitement for the future as he announced that the search for a new organizational president had come to an end.

Dickerson started by giving a brief background to further emphasize why Spire Sports + Entertainment chose to partner with Scott Mueller and what they’ve done to find the perfect fit for this position.

With a smile on his face former VP from the Kansas City Mavericks Todd Mackin took center stage, being officially announced and welcomed as the new president of the Rapid City Rush.

He professed how much he loves this community, the fan base, and this organization.  His goal is to restore the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center as the toughest venue in the league to play in for opposing clubs.

Mackin expressed his desire to bring energy back into the venue including a new affiliation, giving back to the season ticket holders, and getting the front office more involved.

I got to spend a few minutes with Mackin after the press conference and was impressed with his excellent people skills and personal nature.

When asked what made him chose to leave Kansas City and come to the Black Hills he responded that the ownership was a big piece of that.

“The guys from Spire have real passion and real ideas of what they want to do and to really grow their presence in hockey.”

He also expressed how much he enjoyed the city and the amazing moments that have taken place in the Civic Center.  He’s wanting to bring that level of excitement back to the Black Hills and re-energize the community with their love and support for this organization.

He’s fully prepared to “roll up his sleeves and put in the hard work” to make that happen.

Will it be a bittersweet moment when the Mavs come to town next month?

Mackin quickly chuckled “No, I’m ready to win”.

Don’t be surprised if you see Mackin strolling the aisles and concourses during hockey games the rest of this season as he looks to get to better know the fan base and bring back the proud tradition of “Rush Nation” to the Black Hills of South Dakota.

Raised to bleed Garnet and Gold, Mike’s first passion will always be Florida State football. Though he does enjoy watching just about any sporting event if given the opportunity.
