RAPID CITY, SD — Highlights from the second and third period between the Rapid City Rush and visiting Greenville Swamp Rabbits on Saturday, March 6th, 2021.  This was the team’s annual “First Responders Night” as well.

After a lopsided 8-5 loss Friday night to their visiting Spire Sports Rivals, the Rush bounced back with an impressive 2-1 victory in regulation on Saturday night.

Avery Peterson scored the the team’s second power play goal of the game and put the Boys from the Black Hills back on top with under six minutes left in regulation.  Coupled with Adam Carlson’s 37 saves on 38 shots the Rush defeated the Swamp Rabbits by a 2-1 score on Saturday night.

The home team would take the series on Sunday’s rubber match as Hunter Garlent pocketed the game winner 1:03 into overtime to give Rapid City the 2-1 victory.  With the win Rapid City takes 4-out-of-6 points in the weekend series and wins the first ever series match-up between the two teams, both owned by Spire Sports + Entertainment.

Rapid City Rush: Rapid City (14-18-2-0, 0.441) hosts the visiting Kansas City Mavericks (13-12-3-1, 0.517) for a 3-game series.  Puck drop for the first game is Friday, March 12th, at 7:05pm at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.

Greenville Swamp Rabbits: Greenville (13-10-6-2, 0.548) travels to face the Jacksonville Icemen (11-12-1-2, 0.481) for a 3-game series.  The first two games will be at Jacksonville, Thursday and Friday, with Saturday’s contest being at home from the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
