RAPID CITY, SD — The Rapid City Rush announced at the end of July it would be turning back time with it’s newest announcement: hearkening back to their first affiliation with the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes.
This should prove to be a positive step for the Rush after just barely missing the playoffs last season.
“We are extremely excited to announce our affiliation today with the Arizona Coyotes organization,” said Rush Owner Jeff Dickerson of Spire Sports + Entertainment.
“When we first set out in this process, we weren’t just looking for an affiliate for the sake of an affiliation. We wanted to work with an organization that we shared common goals with, could grow with, and that gave opportunities for advancement of our players and staff.”
The Rush and Coyotes held a similar agreement from the 2015-17 seasons which saw four (4) players move up the ranks and sport a Coyotes jersey: netminder Marek Langhamer, netminder Adin Hill, defenseman Dakota Mermis, and forward Michael Bunting. All three organizations are looking forward to a renewed relationship for player development and giving each club the best chance possible to be successful in their respective league.
