Rapid City RushThe Tulsa Oilers’ two main offensive weapons, Ryan Menei and Ben Gordon, scorched the Rapid City Rush for five goals and nine combined points in a 5-2 win on Tuesday night at the BOK Center. The Rush conclude their two-week road trip with a 3-3-0 record, and now host the Arizona Sundogs in a pair of games this weekend. Tickets are available by calling 716-7825 or online at gotmine.com

The Rush jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the contest, beginning with a rare shorthanded goal at the 4:08 mark. Jared Brown stripped an Oilers defenseman of the puck just outside of the Tulsa zone before setting up Jesse Schultz in the slot for his seventh of the season. Eight minutes later, Jamie VanderVeeken’s wrist shot from the blueline was deflected home by Jared Brown, giving the Rush a commanding 2-0 lead just twelve minutes in. However, Ryan Menei cut the lead back to one just thirteen seconds later on a rebound from the left side of the net.

Rapid City RushDown by a pair of goals early to the Allen Americans, the Rapid City Rush had their veterans step up to force extra time and an eventual 3-2 shootout win on Saturday night. Scott Wray and Jarrett Konkle potted the regulation goals while Damian Surma and Winston Day Chief came away with highlight-reel tallies in the shootout to secure the win. Rush goaltender Danny Battochio denied all four shooters for the second straight night and made 27 total saves for his ninth win of the year. The Rush finally conclude their stock show road trip on Tuesday in a game against the Tulsa Oilers. The game can be heard live on 100.3 the FOX or foxradio.com.

The Americans came out firing on all cylinders, eventually potting two goals in a twenty-three second span. The opening goal came at 11:23 from Jamie Schaafsma who collected his 15th goal of the year on a slapshot from the top of the right circle. Moments later, Brian McMillin slammed in a rebound from the left side of the net off a shot from Garrett Clarke, doubling the lead. Veteran Jarrett Konkle finally got the Rush on the board at the 17:08 mark, sneaking a shot past Aaron Dell for his team-leading 19th goal of the season, and making it 2-1 after one.

Rapid City RushNeeding a goal to tie the game in the third period, Rapid City’s Damian Surma set up Jesse Schultz for the equalizer, forcing extra time between the Rush and Fort Worth Brahmas. In the shootout, Danny Battochio denied all four attempts while Jared Brown provided the game-winner in a 3-2 triumph by Rapid City. The Rush make the short trip to Allen, Texas for a game against the Americans tomorrow at 6:05pm MST and the game can be heard live on 100.3 the FOX or foxradio.com.

Heading into tonight’s action, the Rush were 14-3-3 when potting the opening goal, and they were able to accomplish that against the Brahmas. Two and a half minutes into the contest, a short 2-on-1 between Scott Wray and Jesse Schultz culminated in a rebound goal by Wray for his 16th of the season. The lead lasted until the 11:02 mark when the Rush failed on numerous attempts to clear the zone, and Fort Worth’s Shawn Szydlowski buried a shot from the left side of the net, making it 1-1 after one.
