TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Junior guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes exploded for a game-high 21 points and added five assists while leading four Seminoles in double figures. The 88-72 win by ninth-ranked Florida State over seventh-ranked Duke extends the program-record winning streak to 12 straight, topping a mark by was previously set by the 1969-70 Seminole unit.
Rathan-Mayes was two points off his season high after hitting 7-of-13 from the field and 5-of-7 from the free throw line. He emerged with 18 points in the second half, converting six field goals along the way, highlighting a Seminole unit that was 19-of-33 (57.6%) from the floor in the frame.
Rounding out double figure scorers for a Seminole unit that finished 35-of-66 (53%) from the field for the contest were Dwayne Bacon (13 points), Terance Mann (13) and Jonathan Isaac (11). Bacon, who reached double figures for the 26th straight time, was 6-of-15 from the floor and 1-of-2 from 3-point range. He was also active on the glass with six rebounds, pulling down three offensive rebounds.
Mann was highly efficient throughout the night for the Seminoles as he finished 6-of-7 from the floor to go along with a game-high seven rebounds. It is the sixth time this season that Mann had at least six rebounds and marks the second time in 2016-17 that he has recorded back-to-back double figure performances.
Isaac came through with a solid performance in his first-ever meeting with the Blue Devils (14-3, 2-2 ACC) as he finished 4-of-7 from the field and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. Isaac got himself in position to grab five rebounds while contributing one block.
Another key contributor for the Seminoles in the win was senior Jarquez Smith, who came through with eight points, five rebounds and three blocks in 22 minutes. Smith finished 4-of-7 from the floor and was instrumental in providing Florida State a 56-28 advantage in points in the paint and a 21-4 edge in points off the bench.
