FSU Football Game ReviewFrom ESPN.com:

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Bobby Bowden was absent from the Florida State sideline for the first time in 34 years. No matter. Jimbo Fisher had the Seminoles ready to play.

Christian Ponder threw four first-half touchdown passes and Greg Reid returned a punt 74 yards for another score as No. 20 Florida State celebrated Fisher's coaching debut with a 59-6 victory over lower-division Samford (Ala.) Saturday.

The Seminoles exploded for 35 points during an 11-minute span of the second quarter to build a 42-0 lead in the season opener for both schools.

FSU Football Game PreviewFrom ESPN.com:

For the first time in 35 years, it won't be Bobby Bowden calling plays on the Florida State sidelines.

Yes, the administration had to ultimately push Bowden aside a year earlier than he would have preferred. But once those unpleasantries were out of the way, Fisher was indeed able to hit the ground running this past spring.

And he believes that will be the key to a rapid turnaround in 2010. While a normal first-year head coach still would be figuring out his players, getting to know who he could count on in different situations, Fisher says he already is in second gear.

Florida State Seminoles Practice ReportNo, not the retirement of Brett Favre.  The beginning of Fall Practice for the Florida State Seminoles.

Yesterday marked the official beginning of the season for FSU as the Noles took to the Al Dunlap Practice Fields.

Everyone was in high spirits as this was the first time since 1976 that the annual Fall Camp was coached by someone other than Bobby Bowden.

“It was a good moment, but you had to put it behind you and go coach,” said head coach Jimbo Fisher.
