The ACC Media Days are in full swing now in Greensboro, NC. Part of the fun each year is seeing just how wrong the media is at voting where your favorite team will finish once the dust of the regular season has fallen.
The darling of late has been Virginia Tech, which is an obvious choice to win the ACC each year.
However their track record on this pick is horrendous, only correctly picking VaTech to win it all (2007).
There are numerous teams that have a legitimate chance, on paper, to come away with a bid to the Orange Bowl as ACC Champions.
Granted the Coastal Division is very top heavy compared to its Atlantic Division foes, which has been status quo for many years as well. But this could be the year that the "sleeper" team sneaks in for a shot at glory.
My thoughts on how the season will end? I pick Florida State to win the Atlantic Division and North Carolina to fly under the radar and claim the Coastal Division. This would be a great rematch from the 1997 season when both teams were hyped up to perform well on both the conference and national stages, though only FSU lived up to that hype.
I won't pick the winner of that game until I do my ACC Preview (due out in late August) but you might just be surprised how I see that game unfolding.
And for those of you that are curious, here are the final standings on how the media picked the ACC to finish this year.
