Home NAIA Women's Basketball Colorado Hoops Player Joins Lady Hardrockers

South Dakota School of Mines & TechnologySouth Dakota School of Mines and Lady Hardrocker head basketball coach Barb Felderman are pleased to announce the signing of Jordan Needens as the newest recruit for the 2011-12 basketball season.

Needens is a 5-9 forward from Eaton, Colo., who helped the Eaton High School Lady Reds to a 23 -5 overall record this past season and a trip to the Colorado Class 3A State Girls Basketball Tournament where the Lady Reds were the 3A runners-up. The team also posted an 11-0 conference record.

“Jordan is a great athlete and even greater person,” Felderman said. “She is one of those blue-collar workers. She makes all the hustle plays and she is a good rebounder.”

On the season, Needens averaged 8.3 points, two blocks, 7.5 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game. She also shot 50 percent from three-point range, was 49 percent on the season from the field and shot 75 percent from the free throw line. Needens also earned all-state honorable mention as a senior, was named to the all-tournament Roundball Classic team, was awarded three varsity basketball letters, made two trips to the state basketball tournament and was a team captain during her senior year.

“Jordan knows what it takes to be successful,” Felderman said. “She has proven that time and again during her high school career and I am confident that she will do greater things once she makes the transition to college basketball.”

Needens plans to major in Interdisciplinary Sciences while attending SD Mines.
