South Dakota School of Mines & TechnologyRAPID CITY – South Dakota Mines women’s basketball assistant coach Lori Coble will be stepping down from the Lady Hardrocker coaching staff after 28 years with the program. Coble, who is also a professor on campus, will be taking a more full-time position in the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department starting in the fall of 2011.

Coble, under the direction of Lady Hardrocker head coach Barb Felderman (30 years), has helped guide the Lady Hardrockers to 12 conference championships, nine NAIA Women’s Basketball National Tournament appearances, five NAIA Sweet 16 appearances and two NAIA Final Four showings.

“I’ve contributed a lot over the years, but I’ve received so much more back,” Coble said. “My life has been so blessed and there have been so many great people that I have come in contact with. I have had so many great experiences and so many laughs --- it kind of keeps you young I guess.”

South Dakota School of Mines & TechnologySouth Dakota School of Mines and Lady Hardrocker head basketball coach Barb Felderman are pleased to announce the signing of Jordan Needens as the newest recruit for the 2011-12 basketball season.

Needens is a 5-9 forward from Eaton, Colo., who helped the Eaton High School Lady Reds to a 23 -5 overall record this past season and a trip to the Colorado Class 3A State Girls Basketball Tournament where the Lady Reds were the 3A runners-up. The team also posted an 11-0 conference record.

“Jordan is a great athlete and even greater person,” Felderman said. “She is one of those blue-collar workers. She makes all the hustle plays and she is a good rebounder.”

On the season, Needens averaged 8.3 points, two blocks, 7.5 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game. She also shot 50 percent from three-point range, was 49 percent on the season from the field and shot 75 percent from the free throw line. Needens also earned all-state honorable mention as a senior, was named to the all-tournament Roundball Classic team, was awarded three varsity basketball letters, made two trips to the state basketball tournament and was a team captain during her senior year.
