OMAHA, Neb. -- To Florida State's Mike McGee, pitching is hard work and hitting home runs is fun.

He mixed business and pleasure Monday, leading the Seminoles to an 8-5 victory over Florida in a College World Series elimination game.

McGee hit a tie-breaking three-run homer in the third inning, laid down a squeeze bunt in the fourth and moved in from left field to pick up the save after Florida made things interesting in the ninth.

OMAHA, Neb. - Florida State was limited to four hits and left nine runners on base in an 8-1 loss to TCU in the first game of the 2010 College World Series at Rosenblatt Stadium. The Seminoles will now play Monday, June 21 at 4:30 p.m. EST against the loser of Saturday night's game between Florida and UCLA in an elimination game. That game will be televised by ESPN2.

The Seminoles were led by four different players who had one hit each and their bullpen that allowed two runs and struck out six in five innings pitched. Sean Gilmartin, Florida State's starting pitcher in game one, was tagged with the loss. He fell to 9-8 on the year.

Colorado RockiesFrom ESPN.com:

DENVER -- The Colorado Rockies will be without offensive catalyst and slick-fielding shortstop Troy Tulowitzki for at least six weeks after he broke his left wrist.

Tulowitzki was hurt when he was hit by a pitch from Twins reliever Alex Burnett in the eighth inning of a win Thursday in Minnesota.

While the initial examination didn't reveal a break, an MRI on Friday found an avulsion fracture, where a fragment of bone tears away.

NCAA BaseballFrom The ACC.com:

Eight teams begin competing for the College World Series championship in Omaha on Saturday, a quest that runs for nearly two weeks and will literally seem like a second season to the two teams that advance to play a deciding best-of-three title series.

But regardless of who emerges from the dogpile as NCAA Division I champion on June 29 or 30, they will be at least partially upstaged by the venue that showcases their achievement.

This is the curtain call for Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium, which is hosting its 61st CWS but will give way in 2011 to a new downtown stadium.

Los Angeles LakersFrom ESPN.com:

LOS ANGELES -- Purple and gold confetti raining down upon him, Kobe Bryant hopped up on the scorer's table, shook his fists and extended five fingers.

When he hopped down, Boston's legendary Hall of Fame center Bill Russell was waiting to shake his hand.

A Game 7 classic -- and this time, it finally went the Lakers' way.

Bryant, the Finals MVP, scored 23 points despite 6-of-24 shooting, and the Lakers won their 16th NBA championship Thursday night, dramatically rallying from a fourth-quarter deficit to beat the Celtics 83-79 in Game 7 of the NBA Finals.
