TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Following a wash out of Wednesday's mid-week contest against North Florida, second-ranked Florida State (3-0) returns to the diamond this weekend on Mike Marin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium for a three-game series against the Hofstra Pride (0-3). The meeting between these two schools marks the third time in the last four years these two teams have squared off in a weekend series. The Seminoles are undefeated in the series having won all seven previous meetings. FSU has outscored Hofstra 80-24 in the series as the Seminole pitching staff has held the Pride offense to three runs or less in all but two games.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP)--Slow starts make Florida State coach Sue Semrau more than a little nervous. For the second time in four nights, the ninth-ranked Seminoles fell behind by double digits in the first half before winning their seventh straight game with an 87-62 victory over Miami on Thursday. "I guess we're a team that really feels things out," Semrau said. "I don't like it, they (players) don't like it. We'll keep trying to solve the problem."
This used to be a game that the Seminoles, along with just about every other team in the country, would fear to play — against North Carolina and on the Tar Heels’ home court. Over the later half of this season, however, UNC has shown that it isn’t the same team that used to instill fear in any team visiting the Dean Smith Center. Case in point: North Carolina started the 2009–2010 season hot, winning 11-of-14 and looking on pace to take a top seed into both the ACC and NCAA Tournaments. Since then, however, UNC has done a complete 180, winning just three of its last 13 games. With just a few meager games remaining in the regular season, it seems then that FSU and UNC have become polar opposites of each other.

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Denver's Chauncey Billups chatted amicably with an antagonizing fan in the crowd, then casually strolled over to the home team's bench and hugged Golden State trainer Tom Abdenour. That's how easy and relaxed the Nuggets were in their first game without coach George Karl since he revealed he has neck and throat cancer. Billups had 37 points and nine rebounds, Carmelo Anthony added 27 points and Denver beat Golden State 127-112 on Thursday night.
The Florida State women's basketball team will look to make it seven straight wins Thursday night when the Seminoles take on in-state rival Miami at 7 p.m. on FS Florida. Seminole seniors Angel Gray, Alysha Harvin and Jacinta Monroe will be honored before the game. The Seminoles are coming off a nail-biting 59-58 win at No. 18 Virginia on Monday and will be looking to exact some revenge on the visiting Hurricanes as Miami delivered one of the two ACC losses to the Seminoles this season.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Wednesday's baseball game featuring Florida State and North Florida has been postponed due to rain. The game will be made up on Wednesday, March 10 at 4:00 p.m., on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium. Tickets for today's game will be honored for the make-up game on March 10. Second-ranked Florida State (3-0) will return to the diamond this weekend for a three-game series against Hofstra with first pitch on Friday, February 26 starting at 4:00 p.m. The game will be televised live on FS Florida, while fans can listen to the action over the radio on 1270 the Team and at Seminoles.com. |
