Home About Us FSP Blogs Blog Uneasiness Heading into Summer

Free Sports PressI will admit that I have a great deal of uneasiness heading into the summer months.

Two of professional sports teams (Nuggets and Avalanche) have been ousted from their respective sport's playoffs.

Another of my professional teams (Rockies) is barely hanging onto a .500 record only a mere few months into the 2010 season, and it currently isn't showing signs of getting much better as the weather picks up.

I had two rays of light heading into June.  I was hoping to follow the FSU Baseball and Softball teams deep into their respective playoffs, both hoping for "World Series" births.

I'm now down to a single team as the Lady Seminoles were dropped from the Atlanta Regional after posting a 1-2 record.  Even though they were not the host team, I still expected them to play better than they did and make it to the Super Regionals.

Maybe next year.

And the lone team I have high hopes for heading into June?  The FSU Baseball team (18-12 in conference).  But my hopes for them, too, dwindled after they were swept by Clemson to close out their regular season.

They'll be taking a #5 Seed into the ACC Tournament, which starts Wednesday.

They'll be facing #4 Miami (20-10 in conference) and are in the same division as #1 Virginia (23-7) and #8 Boston College (14-16).

We need a very strong showing this weekend if we want to be awarded a national seed.  At this point, we would almost have to win the tournament.

Which means the FSU team that showed up to play Clemson last weekend needs to stay ON the bus and stay OFF the field.  We need the team that started the season on at 12-game tear and looked to be red-hot.

Time will tell, but my hopes are not as high as they were this time last week.

Come on, FSU, please give me something to look forward to before football season!!
